Schaefferstown, Pa

This past Saturday my daughter, who is home early from college due to the virus lockdown, and I packed up our six-year old Golden Retriever and drove 10 mins north of our home to the small town of Schaefferstown in Lebanon County. There are plenty of old houses and churches to photograph along with some of the cutest decorations that are displayed outside of these quaint stone and brick structures.

There was more traffic in this four-road town than I had anticipated. But I understand that need to get out of the house these days. I think it is fair to say that everyone is ready to the 'new normal' to be behind us and invite the 'old normal' back into our lives.

Like with any passion or creative hobby, sometimes you just feel STUCK. As if you are sinking slowly into wet cement and no matter how hard you try...you just feel STUCK. Well I just had to get out and smell the fresh air, listen to the outside even if there were cars zooming east and west on Route 897, and photograph something new, something different. So that's what we did.

Honestly, it felt wonderful to just photograph anything I wanted, anything that caught my eye and in any angle I felt like photographing it. I hope you enjoy the historic houses, churches, decorations and if you close your eyes and try really hard, maybe you can smell the spring flowers.

I encourage you to find something....anything that helps you to not feel STUCK during the quarantine and keep thinking that our 'old normal' will return soon. Happy Spring!
